Orange County Superior Court - Public Notice - Electronic Filing Expanded to Include Family Law Appeals Effective August 25, 2025


Beginning August 25, 2025, the Court will offer electronic filing (e-filing) for Family Law appellate documents. Currently, these documents are be submitted by mail or in person at the Central Justice Center's Appellate Division/Records Department. The e-filing option will provide greater flexibility and convenience, allowing parties to file documents online 24 hours a day, seven days a week—eliminating the need to visit the courthouse during court business hours.

Pursuant to section 1010.6 of the Code of Civil Procedure, rule 2.253(b)(2) of the California Rules of Court, Orange County Superior Court Rule 700.7, all documents filed by attorneys in Family Law cases, other than documents listed on the exception list specified below, must be filed electronically unless the Court excuses party from doing so. The e-fling of documents must be effected using the Court’s electronic service providers. A list of approved providers can be found on the Court’s website at: www.occourts.org/online-services/efiling/family-efiling.Self-represented. Self represented parties are exempt from the mandatory e-filing requirement set forth in Orange County Superior Court Local Rule 700.7 but are strongly encouraged to participate voluntarily.

Effective August 25, 2025, the following original documents may not be filed electronically:

  • Adoptions -Memos to Set
  • Applications for Publication/ Posting
  • Bonds
  • Judgments
  • Out-of-State Registration Filings
  • Special Immigrant Juvenile Findings that include a FL-935 Application and Order for Appointment of Guardian Ad Litem (GAL)
  • Subpoenaed Documents
  • Surrogacy Filings
  • Trial Exhibits (if not ordered to submit via the Portal)
  • Writs/Abstracts
