Orange County Superior Court - News Release: Temporary Judge Application Information - Call for Applications

Santa Ana – The Court is pleased to announce that the recruitment for highly qualified attorneys to serve as Temporary Judges for the term beginning July 01, 2026, through June 30, 2029, is now open. Those interested in becoming a Temporary Judge, please read the APPLICATION LETTER and complete the TEMPORARY JUDGE APPLICATION. The Application Letter describes the minimum qualifications and selection criteria that will be used in the application process.

If you are an active Temporary Judge with the Orange County, California Superior Court, and want to renew your status, please complete the TEMPORARY JUDGE RENEWAL APPLICATION. We thank you for your volunteer service and encourage you to reapply.

All applicants selected to serve as Temporary Judges must attend two (2) three-hour mandatory training sessions in the spring of 2026 as well as a three-hour training session for each subject matter in which the applicant is approved to serve. This mandatory training qualifies for MCLE credit.

Applications must be received by December 31, 2025. Late applications will not be accepted.
