The Rules and Forms Committee of the Superior Court of California, County of Orange, has proposed new and revised Local Rules of Court. Pursuant to California Rules of Court, rule 10.613, the Court invites you to comment on the following changes to the local rules. If approved, the proposed changes will be effective July 1, 2024.
Revised Local Rule 375 – Remote and In-Person Proceedings for Civil. Revisions to Local Rule 375 were made to set guidelines for decorum for parties during remote appearances. This will require all individuals appearing remotely to have the same court decorum as they would in an in-person hearing as well as testing all video and audio equipment prior to the hearing. This will maintain the dignity of the Court and respect for the administration of justice.
Proposed New Local Rule 602.01 – Notice to Entities. This new local rule will clarify that notice to an entity requires notice to an actual person who is authorized to receive notice on behalf of the entity.
Revised Local Rule 611.03 – Appointment of General Conservator. Revisions to Local Rule 611.03 were made to mirror the revisions made to Local Form L-935 which include capturing details regarding the proposed conservatee’s finances including assets in estate and other income. The form requires information on any trust and/or estate in which the proposed conservatee holds a beneficial interest and will prompt disclosure of any other type of income received by the proposed conservatee.
The proposed revisions and invitation to comment are posted on the Superior Court’s website at Invitation to Comment. The most efficient way would be to use the fillable form and click on “Submit by Email” when completed.
All comments concerning a proposed rule must be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024.
