Orange County Superior Court - Media Release: Court Implements a Mobile Phone Application for the Automated Check-in Program in Civil

Santa Ana, CA – The Orange County Superior Court is introducing a mobile phone application for the existing Automated Check-in Program to facilitate the use of Zoom for selected calendars in Civil Unlimited/Complex courtroom and some Limited/Small Claims courtrooms, at zero cost to the public.

The Court implemented a Zoom Automated Check-in Pilot Program in June 2021, which was very successful and is now available in all Unlimited, Complex and some Limited/Small Claims departments. The mobile application accessibility is scheduled to commence on Feb. 21, 2023.

“Access to justice for all our county’s residents has been our focus,” Presiding Judge Maria Hernandez said, adding, “we moved forward with a mobile application, knowing that even people without access to a computer, do have a smart phone that they can use to gain access to justice.”

The free app can be downloaded for iOS devices from the Apple App store and for Android devices from the Google Play Store. The app is listed as OC Courts Mobile. Represented parties and self-represented parties will now be able to check-in for selected calendars using the court’s Automated Check-in Mobile Phone Application. Once the online check-in is completed, counsel and self-represented parties will be directed to launch the courtroom’s Zoom hearing session.

This new application will allow remote access to the court at no cost to the public while also allowing counsel and self-represented parties to check-in using their mobile application on their device’s application store.
