Three OCBA Members named to list of top “500 Leading Lawyers in America”

Three OCBA Members, Jennifer Keller, Kay Anderle, and Reuben Camper Cahn were named as 2021 “Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America.”  According to Lawdragon, “the Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America is the most elite distinction in the profession, covering all practices."  The naming to the Lawdragon 500 list, one of the most coveted awards nationwide, is an outstanding achievement.

Jennifer Keller is one of America’s most successful trial attorneys.  In 2020, Keller was selected as a “Lawdragon Legend,” one of only 30 attorneys chosen nationwide in 2020 by Lawdragon.   Per Lawdragon, “Keller is hands-down one of the nation’s best trial lawyers – equally adept at litigating a plaintiff’s cause and defending companies against high-stakes claims.”  A “Lawdragon Legend” is an attorney who has been selected to the Lawdragon 500 list for 10 years.

Keller represents both plaintiffs and defendants in a broad range of high-stakes commercial litigation and white collar cases. Chambers USA and Chambers Global rank her among the top commercial litigators in the nation, quoting sources who describe Keller as “the consummate trial lawyer,” “brilliant, hard-working and a true problem-solver,” and “widely regarded as one of the best trial lawyers in California.” She is a Fellow of the invitation-only American College of Trial Lawyers, considered to be among the highest honors a North American trial attorney can receive. Keller is also a 2018 inductee into the California Lawyers Association Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame, one of only 33 attorneys so honored throughout the years. Benchmark Litigation lists her as one of the “Top 100 Trial Attorneys in America” and among the “Top 20 Trial Lawyers in California,” calling her a “National Litigation Star.” In 2020 and 2021, Super Lawyers ranked Keller #1 in Southern California. “Revered for her versatility and ease in front of a jury ... the go-to trial attorney for difficult cases” is how Keller is described by The Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journals, ranking her as a “Top 100 Lawyer in California” for over 10 years in a row.  In three separate years, in starkly different subjects, Jennifer’s trial victories have led to California Lawyer Attorneys of the Year (CLAY) awards.

With over two decades of experience and 100 cases to jury verdict, Kay Anderle, managing partner, is among the region’s leading trial attorneys.  She is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only organization limited to the top one-half of one percent of the nation’s attorneys.  Anderle is listed in the elite “The Best Lawyers in America®” in both white collar and general practice criminal defense.  She is a life member of both the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.  Other honors and awards have included: National Trial Lawyers, Top 100 Trial Lawyers in California; Los Angeles Magazine, “Southern California Super Lawyers, White Collar Criminal Defense”; and Martindale-Hubbell “AV” rated.

Reuben Camper Cahn has defended a wide range of matters, involving tax, public corruption, fraud, money laundering, RICO, Continuing Criminal Enterprise charges and virtually every other type of white collar case.  He has tried over 100 cases to jury verdict and has argued twice before the Supreme Court (in 2011 and 2018) in addition to numerous arguments before both the 9th and 11th Circuits.  Cahn has been lead counsel in federal capital cases, including one that resulted in complete acquittal and another that ended with a unanimous life verdict.  Cahn has been appointed “counsel learned in the law” by federal judges in over 15 capital trial cases.

Cahn is a Fellow of the invitation-only American College of Trial Lawyers, considered to be among the highest honors a North American trial attorney can receive. He is also a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America (by invitation only, limited to top ½ of 1 percent of lawyers nationally).  Last month, Cahn was named to the list of “Top White Collar Lawyers in California,” as selected by the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journals.  In 2020, he was selected to serve on the Screening committee of the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit for selection of the Central District of California’s Federal Public Defender (FPD-CDCA).  Mr. Cahn is a graduate of Stanford University’s English Honors Program and of Yale Law School, where he was an editor of the Yale Law Journal.
