The Orange County Bar Association develops opportunities for attorneys in Orange County to volunteer their legal expertise to increase access to justice. In addition to soliciting volunteers for the Public Law Center, current attorney volunteer opportunities include:
Domestic Violence Project
The Domestic Violence Project provides training one or two times a year for attorney volunteers who wish to participate in legal clinics which take place at Orange County domestic violence shelters in Santa Ana and Ladera Ranch in the evenings.
Attorney volunteers are trained to participate in legal clinics held at the Lamoreaux Justice Center every Monday afternoon from 12:30 to 4:30 (excluding court holidays). This legal clinic assists relatives through the legal process to gain guardianship of a minor. The project also involves accepting cases from the Public Law Center.
Provides training for attorneys who want to volunteer at legal clinics held at the Orange County Bankruptcy Court. These clinics help low-income pro se debtors understand their rights regarding reaffirmation agreements and Chapter 7 filings.
Family Law Basic Training
Provides training for attorneys in basic family law issues. Attendees must put their new skills to work by accepting two pro bono cases from the Public Law Center, which co-sponsors this program.
