Kate Marr Named New Executive Director of LASOC

OCBA member and Legal Aid Society of Orange County Executive Director Robert Cohen announced his retirement after 36 years of leading the organization. With the news, Cohen announced Kate Marr as LASOC's incoming executive director. With more than 16 years working as a litigator and legal advisor, Marr will step into her new role on Jan. 9, 2017.

Marr previously worked as managing attorney at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, where she oversaw the areas of domestic violence, family law and immigration work. She currently serves on the executive board of Los Angeles County Domestic Violence Council, co-founded the Council’s immigration committee, and is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Access to Justice Committee. Her experience also extends to the Public Law Center and Inland Counties Services.

Marr has distinguished herself in the field of human rights. For her work, she received the Los Angeles County Domestic Violence Council’s Domestic Violence Advocacy Award in 2007. The following year, she was named the Soroptomist International of Long Beach’s Women of Distinction Award recipient.

Marr received her B.A. from Bryn Mawr College and her J.D. from University of Colorado School of Law. For more information about LASOC, visit the organization's website.
