Scott Kelly Selected as Orange County Grand Jury Foreperson

Scott Kelly, of Fullerton, was selected as the foreperson for the 2020- 2021 Orange County Grand Jury, Orange County Superior Court Presiding Judge Kirk Nakamura announced last week.

“Mr. Kelly’s education in science and business, coupled with his extensive experience in communications in both the public sector and non-profit organizations makes him clearly qualified to be foreperson of the 19-member Grand Jury,” said Judge Nakamura.

Mr. Kelly was born in Los Angeles, raised in Burbank, and has lived in Southern California his entire life. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Redlands, and an MBA from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

Throughout his professional career, Mr. Kelly held positions in marketing, communications, and public and community relations. In his most recent assignment, he was the Assistant Director of Public Affairs and Brand Communications for Kaiser Permanente, Orange County. He also served on the board of directors for The Illumination Foundation, Raise Foundation, and the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce.

The 19 members of the Grand Jury took the official oath of office and were charged with their duties for the one-year term of service on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, 10:00 a.m., in Department C1 of the Central Justice Center, 700 Civic Center Drive West, Santa Ana. Last month, members of the current Grand Jury and their advisors conducted a three-day training and orientation program for the new Grand Jury members and the alternates.
