Topic:
Justice Marshall inspired several generations of lawyers to pursue justice and perfect their ability to use the court system to achieve the goals of the U.S. Constitution. Come hear a vibrant discussion on the seminal contributions made by Justice Marshall and how his jurisprudence still quietly impacts the U.S. Supreme court today.

The first African American Justice on the United States Supreme Court, Marshall was also the lead attorney on the landmark Brown v. Board of Education case, which resulted in the declaration of the “separate but equal” doctrine of public education established by the Plessy v. Ferguson decision to be unconstitutional. Prior to his tenure on the United States Superior Court, Marshall was appointed to the Second Court of Appeals by President John F. Kennedy in 1961 and to Solicitor General by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965; President Johnson elevated Marshall to the Supreme Court Bench in 1967, where he sat until his retirement in 1991.
