SCOTT B. GARNER

Scott Garner has a long history of giving back to the profession, and to the OCBA in particular, including being an active member of OCBA’s Board of Directors for the last six years. Scott’s long and impressive list of contributions includes his recent appointment as Co-Chair (with Justice Richard Fybel) of the Civility Task Force, heading up the OCBA’s Bylaws Task Force, co-chairing the OCBA Professionalism & Ethics Committee, and serving on the OCBA’s Audit Committee, to name a few.

Scott’s commitment to serving the legal community is not limited to his service to the OCBA. Scott recently completed a term as Chair of the State Bar’s Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct, and currently serves as the Advisor to that Committee. He also is the current President of the Orange County Chapter of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers (ABTL).

Scott’s practice is focused in significant part on service to lawyers. Specifically, Scott counsels and defends law firms and lawyers in legal malpractice, ethics, and other lawyer liability matters.

Scott’s Bar service and professional engagements give him a unique understanding of the many issues confronting lawyers, and he is eager to continue putting that knowledge and experience to use for the benefit of OCBA members. Last year, after spending close to 25 years with large, international firms, Scott joined the boutique firm of Umberg Zipser LLP. As a result, Scott understands and appreciates the different challenges faced by lawyers in large and small firms. He is humbled by the outpouring of support he’s received from a wide array of Bar leaders.

Scott and his wife of 23 years, Karen, are the parents of three wonderful children—who ensure that none of Scott’s successes go to his head. To learn more about Scott, including his list of endorsements, please visit www.scottgarner4secretary.com.
