Judges Needed for National Moot Court Competition

The Orange County Bar Association is working this year with local law schools, the American College of Trial Lawyers, and the Bar of the City of New York to stage the National Moot Court Competition. The Southern California Regional is being held locally, at the Fowler School of Law at Chapman University. Members are encouraged to sign up to judge a session.

The competition will be held on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 7 and 8, 2014. Fourteen teams from Southern California law schools are expected to compete. Professor Nancy Schultz is in need of judges for the preliminary rounds, to be held on Friday, Nov. 7 from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 – 5:30 p.m.; for the quarterfinal round to be held on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.; and for the semifinal round to be held on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Only minimal preparation is necessary. The case problem and a bench brief will be circulated well in advance of the session, and Professor Schultz will conduct a half-hour orientation for judges before each round of arguments.
