OCKABA Statement Updated May 2026
The Orange County Korean American Bar Association (OCKABA) was established in 2005 to foster meaningful relationships among Korean American attorneys and law students, provide pro bono services to the Orange County Korean American community, and promote the appointment of Korean American judges.
Over the past twenty years, with the support of the Orange County Bar Association, affiliate bar organizations, and the broader legal community, OCKABA has grown into a thriving and impactful organization. Today, OCKABA proudly counts three Korean American judges on the Orange County Superior Court bench—two of whom were appointed in 2023—and maintains a robust mentorship program with over 100 active participants.
OCKABA is currently led by President Jonathan Shin of SHIN Law Group, APC; President-Elect Logan Park of Seyfarth Shaw, LLP; Treasurer Deborah Song of Minyard Morris, LLP; Secretary Jinju Kim of Algorand Foundation; Immediate Past President Mandy Kim of McDermott Will & Schulte, LLP; along with an accomplished board of eighteen directors. Our leadership regularly represents OCKABA at major legal events, including affiliate bar installation galas, the IAKL Annual Conference, the NAPABA Convention, and the Cal-APABA Annual Conference.
Last year, OCKABA celebrated a milestone with its sold-out 20th Annual Installation Dinner, featuring the Honorable Kenneth K. Lee as keynote speaker and Leadership Award recipient. Over the past year, OCKABA has hosted and co-sponsored numerous programs and events, including:
