The OCBA is deeply saddened to share the passing of Peter John Gates.

Governor Gavin Newsom announced his appointment of 15 Superior Court Judges, which includes one in Orange County.

The Orange County Bar Association is excited to announce Edward A. Schlatter as this year’s Harmon G. Scoville Award recipient. The award will be presented during a reception on November 18, 2025.

Hon. Sheila F. Hanson was elected Presiding Judge, and Hon. Terri K. Flynn-Peister Assistant Presiding Judge in an uncontested election for the two top posts of the Superior Court of California, County of Orange. Both Judge Hanson and Judge Flynn-Peister will begin their two-year terms on January 1, 2026.

The online election are now open for voting. The Election closes on Monday, Sept. 29, 2025. Only active attorney members will be eligible to vote (no law students, retired, or honorary members).

Morgan Lewis recently announced the IP Litigation expansion of there West Coast Team by adding a Three-Partner team. OCBA member Jeremy Anapol was among the newely named Partners in the firm's Orange County and Seattle offices.

Beginning August 25, 2025, the Court will offer electronic filing (e-filing) for Family Law appellate documents.
