Making and receiving referrals is a common part of legal practice and carries important ethical responsibilities. This program provides a practical overview of attorneys’ duties, including compliance with the Rules of Professional Conduct governing referral fees, fee-sharing arrangements, and related code sections. Participants will explore best practices for making high-quality, ethical referrals, with an emphasis on vetting recipients and referring matters only to qualified professionals with appropriate experience and subject-matter expertise, and will also learn how professional relationship-building and in-person networking can be conducted ethically
This program is approved for 1.0 Legal Ethics Credit. Attendees must have participated in the program in its entirety to receive MCLE credit.
