Recent New Laws and Court Decisions Affecting Community Associations

Effective January 1, 2020, many laws were enacted affecting community associations. The new laws concern accessory dwelling units, elections, inspection of exterior elevations such as balconies, and many other matters. During the past year, there have been many court decisions published impacting community associations, including architectural review, short-term rentals, the duty to maintain common areas, the SLAPP statute, and other subjects. The new laws and court decisions will be discussed by two experienced community association attorneys.
