President's Message

Hi TMBA Family,

UPDATE!  We have so much to share with you that I didn’t want to wait until May’s newsletter.  So, please read this Mid-Month April Newsletter, where we remind you of upcoming events, including a new MCLE on Cinco de Mayo.  Also, as we continue to celebrate the confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson and women on the bench, we introduce two judicial candidates for the Superior Court of Orange County … Chief Administrative Law Judge Juliet Macaulay and Commissioner Michele Bell.  TMBA endorses Judge Macaulay and Commissioner Bell … keep reading to learn more.

P.S. Don’t forget to join us for financial literacy events this month and next month.

CLE Speaking Opportunities

Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB), a non-profit program of the University of California that serves the California legal community, is currently developing exciting CLE course offerings and is looking for new subject matter experts to record a 1-1.5 hour on-demand CLE program. CLE contributors with CEB are able to share their expertise with a statewide audience, while also promoting their work, improving their public speaking skills, and boosting their professional recognition. More than anything, CEB is interested in collaborating to develop CLE programs that really show off what legal experts know and provide more diverse perspectives in all practice areas. If you're an experienced California attorney interested in developing and recording a short CLE program (or two!) with CEB, please reach out to Chelsea Kay at chelsea.kay@ceb.ucla.edu.

TMBA Endorsements
..................................................
TMBA endorses Chief Administrative Law Judge Juliet Macaulay for Superior Court Judge.

Chief Judge Macaulay is a seasoned Administrative Law Judge with extensive hearing and management experience. As an Administrative Law Judge, Judge Macaulay has demonstrated good judicial temperament and strong work ethic.  She is an active listener, and always acts with integrity and fairness.

Her experience as Chief Administrative Law Judge and her numerous successes in that position speak for themselves.  It is our belief that her professional and personal experiences have equipped her with the tools and skills every judge should possess.  Chief Judge Macaulay actively engages stakeholders, and she collaborates well with others to identify and resolve problems. She consistently receives positive reviews and feedback from superiors, peers, and direct reports.

Chief Judge Macaulay’s appointment adds more diversity to the bench and we believe that the judiciary should be representative of the residents of Orange County and those who appear in its courts.
