Community Outreach The Community Outreach Committee’s mission is to facilitate the provision of community services by the OCBA, its members and affiliates. The committee's work helps to create a more positive image of the OCBA and the legal profession in the community. The committee meets on a monthly basis on the first Wednesday of each month. The committee holds meetings at the OCBA offices in Irvine and by teleconference. The “face to face” meetings take place just four times per year, making it easy for members to participate without having to travel to the actual meeting every month. The Community Outreach committee has a long track record of successful projects. These include: Annual Food Drives, Visits to Orangewood Children’s Home, Community Service Days, Used Eye Glass Collections, Toys for Tots, and Used Business Clothing Drive (LawSuits). The Committee’s future goals include planning for visits to Orangewood Children’s Home in the Spring and Fall. This committee is an excellent place for members who have an interest in community service. Committee members can participate in many ways by organizing a project, writing publicity for the projects, and coordinating with the various community service organizations that benefit from the project. Committee members can also volunteer to participate in any of the projects. The projects are finite in time, making them an ideal way to start to get involved. Spending a Saturday morning on a visit to Orangewood or helping at the food bank provides an opportunity to get to know other OCBA members and to lend a helping hand. The Committee provides valuable opportunities for OCBA members to become involved in organized and enjoyable community service activities. It is a valuable, rewarding experience for all who partake. |
