May 6, 2010 - The Orange County Bar Association will present the Harmon G. Scoville Award to attorney Mary Pat Toups during the annual Law Day Luncheon on Thursday, May 6, 2010, 11:30 a.m. at the Doubletree Hotel in Orange. Law Day was established in 1958 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower as “a day of national dedication to the principle of government under law.”

The presentation of the Scoville award honors a member of the Orange County legal community whose career exemplifies the highest standards of the legal profession and who has significantly contributed to the Orange County Bar Association and championed our constitutional system of justice. The award was established in 1990 in honor of Justice Harmon G. Scoville, retired from the California State Court of Appeal.

This year’s recipient, Mary Pat Toups, a longtime OCBA member, committee volunteer and former ABA Representative has spent the greater part of her career providing Pro Bono services to those in need. She currently serves in the Senior Citizens Legal Advocacy Clinic at Legal Aid Society of Orange County.

The Orange County Bar Association is one of the largest voluntary bars in California. The mission of the Orange County Bar Association is to enhance the system of justice, to support the lawyers who serve it and to assist the community served by it.
