The mission of the Modest Means Sub-Committee is to oversee the Modest Means Program that works in, combination with the Lawyer Referral & Information Service Committee. The programs main goal is to meet the overwhelming need for access to the justice system by those Orange County residents with low and fixed income where access to legal aid and pro bono assistance is not possible, and household resources are insufficient to pay prevailing hourly rates for legal services.
The OCBA has earned national recognition for its Modest Means program. This award winning program provides reduced fee services in four areas: Consumer Law, Elder Law, Family Law, including adoption and child custody issues; Landlord/Tenant; Immigration; and Bankruptcy.
The Committee meets on a bi-annual basis to review income levels in Orange County and make recommendations to ensure the program continues to be a success.
