The Dale E. Fowler School of Law at Chapman University seeks applications for a Part-Time Lecturer of Practice Foundations- Transactions starting August 2017. Successful candidates will teach one 3 unit section of the required 200 level course, Practice Foundations – Transactions, under the supervision of a full time faculty member. Practice Foundations are small section courses that emphasize writing and practice skills. Students work on simulated problems and transactions that lawyers might encounter in practice and receive feedback on their work throughout the semester. The Writ Attorney will primarily review civil, criminal, and juvenile writ petitions, research the law, evaluate the record, prepare memoranda for presentation to a three-judge panel for review and decision and prepare draft orders. This position requires the ability to work independently and occasionally under tight time constraints. Candidates should possess superior writing skills and the ability to present a statement of facts, law and argument clearly and logically in written form.
