OCBA members Layne Melzer and Gary Pohlson were appointed to judgeships in the Orange County Superior Court by Governor Edmund Brown on Tuesday, June 28, 2016.

Melzer has been a partner at Rutan and Tucker LLP since 1994, though his employment as an attorney at the firm extends back to 1987. Melzer fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Linda L. Miller. Melzer is a Republican.

Owner of the Law Offices of Gary M. Pohlson and former partner at Pohlson & Moorhead LLP, Pohlson served as OCBA President in 1995. Pohlson fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Caryl A. Lee. He is a Democrat.
