The OCBA marks with sadness the passing of Hon. J.E.T. Rutter. J.E.T. Rutter retired from judicial service after 16 years on the Orange County bench. He was the senior judge of the Family Law Department from 1980 until his retirement. Before re-activating his bar license to join the Law Offices of Marjorie G. Fuller in 2006, he served in alternate dispute resolution and continued to sit on assignment in the superior court. He received his B.A. at Princeton University and his J.D. degree from the University of Southern California Law School. Upon his retirement, the Family Law Section of the Orange County Bar Association initiated the J.E.T. Rutter Award for Judicial Excellence, which is presented annually for the outstanding family law judicial officer.

 

Services for Judge Rutter will be held Wednesday, June 18, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 600 St. Andrews Rd., Newport Beach.  A reception will follow at the church.
