OC Superior Court Statewide Fiscal Crisis Forces Court to Reduce Clerk’s Office Hours of Operation

Santa Ana, CA – The Orange County Superior Court announced today that Clerk’s Offices located at all branches will be closed every Friday at noon, starting on October 30, 2020, as a result of budgetary reductions, imposed by California’s fiscal crisis.

Specifically, beginning on Friday, October 30, 2020, Clerk’s Offices in all courthouses, will be open for business from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., but will be closed from 12:00 p.m. to the end of the business day. Documents filed electronically or placed in drop-boxes will continue to be processed.

Court hours will remain unchanged for all other Court services.

California’s state fiscal crisis forced a decrease in state funding for Trial Courts by $176.9 million for fiscal year 2020-2021, which has left the Orange County Superior Court with no alternative but to implement several cost-cutting measures, including the reduction of Clerk’s Offices’ hours, to mitigate reduced staffing levels deemed necessary to address the current budget shortfall.

The Court issued a legally mandated 60 days’ notice and requests that all public comments regarding this reduction in hours be directed to: ctfeedback@occourts.org.
