Urgent Notice from OCBA President Scott Garner

Dear OCBA Member:

As you can imagine, the OCBA staff and leadership have been following the COVID-19 situation, which has now been labeled a global pandemic. Over the past couple of weeks, we have been preparing for the possibility that in-person events may be infeasible for some period of time. We believe that time is now. Based on recent recommendations from federal, state, and local health agencies, we have decided that the OCBA will postpone all in-person events scheduled to be held in March.

This includes the Judge Guilford retirement event, the OCBA Charitable Fund Golf Tournament, and all monthly Section meetings. As the situation progresses, we will reevaluate what steps need to be taken beyond March. We do not take this decision lightly, but we hope you can appreciate that we felt this was the only decision we really could make, taking into account the health and safety of our members, the OCBA staff, and each of their respective families and co-workers. We also believe this is the right thing to do as a responsible member of our community.

If you already are signed up for an event in March, we will reach out to you separately to let you know your options. Some events (e.g., Section meetings) may be rescheduled as live webinars. Other events (e.g., committee meetings) will take place as conference calls. Thus, we will try to move forward with as many events as we can, while avoiding in-person gatherings.

As the situation develops over the coming days and weeks, we will provide updates on the OCBA website. www.ocbar.org.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me or the OCBA staff. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience and understanding during these difficult times. And, most importantly, stay safe.

Scott B. Garner
OCBA President
