OCBA Member Boyd F. Jensen II Receives IAAPA Award
On Nov. 17, 2010, the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions (IAAPA) presented Orange County Bar Association member Boyd F. Jensen II, Esq., of Garrett & Jensen with one of its three 2010 Service Awards in Orlando, Fla.

Jensen was honored at a breakfast reception attended by owners and operators of amusement parks from across the globe. Having maintained bar memberships in Wyoming, California, and Utah for over 30 years, Jensen has drafted legislation on a local and national level and has defended some of California's most well-known amusement parks.

As an industry advocate, Jensen has been involved in government relations as well as safety, maintenance, and standards development, penning articles and appearing on radio and television shows regarding such topics as ride G-forces and biomechanical effects, crisis communication, waterpark incident response, safety signage, and compliance with such governmental regulations as the Americans with Disabilities Act.

A founding Director and past President of the International Amusement & Leisure Defense Association, Jensen assisted Knott's Berry Farm in its bid to pass legislation protecting the rights of California amusement parks to enforce their "non-criminal rules of behavior" (California Penal Code 490.6 (1996)).

In his acceptance speech, Jensen expressed his gratitude for "[this] individual honor on behalf of all those who serve, without [whom] these accomplishments would not have been achieved."
