Orange County Bar Association Releases Ratings of Candidates Running for Judicial Office in June 5 Election

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., April 25, 2018— As a public service to assist the voters in Orange County, the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) has conducted a review of both candidates running for Superior Court Judge in the June 5 election. The OCBA considered each candidate for one of four possible ratings: “Exceptionally Well Qualified,” “Well Qualified,” “Qualified,” or “Not Qualified.”

The OCBA’s Judiciary Committee conducted the review of candidates. The Committee comprises a diverse group of 35 attorneys, all in practice for at least 10 years. Both candidates were asked to complete a detailed questionnaire and to participate in personal interviews. The review process also included independent review of each candidate’s background and experience. The Committee considers, among other things, the character, temperament, professional aptitude, and experience of the candidates, without regard to political considerations. The OCBA does not endorse any candidate for election and provides this information as a public service.
