Orange County Bar Association to Present Attorney Suzanne Viau Chamberlain with Prestigious ‘Scoville’ Award

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.—The Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) will present the Harmon G. Scoville Award to attorney Suzanne Viau Chamberlain during its annual Volunteer Recognition Reception, to be held Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at the Promenade Event Centre & Gardens by Turnip Rose in Costa Mesa.

The Scoville Award honors a member of the Orange County legal community whose career exemplifies the highest standards of the legal profession and who has significantly contributed to the OCBA and championed our constitutional system of justice. The award was established in 1990 in honor of retired California State Court of Appeal Justice Harmon G. Scoville. This year’s recipient, Suzanne Viau Chamberlain, is a founding member and partner of Newport Beach, Calif.-based Chamberlain and Viau, a professional law corporation. Her practice includes business and commercial litigation, transactional work, and service as an ADR neutral in arbitration and mediation. She is a graduate of Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, and the University of California, Irvine. Having recently completed her second three-year term on the OCBA Board of Directors, she currently chairs the OCBA Real Estate Section and serves as co-chair of the OCBA Administration of Justice Committee. Among the many highlights of her continued service to the OCBA, Chamberlain has served as founding chair of the OCBA Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, co-chair of the OCBA Education Committee, and Continuing Legal Education Editor of Orange County Lawyer magazine.

Chamberlain’s positive impact on the broader legal community is evidenced through active participation since 2008 on the statewide Bench-Bar Coalition and her presentations at numerous continuing legal education seminars. “Suzanne’s significant volunteer service to the legal profession serves as an inspiration to her colleagues in the Orange County Bar,” notes OCBA President and Bienert, Miller & Katzman, PLC Partner Thomas H. Bienert, Jr. “She is emblematic of the values that we annually recognize with the Scoville Award, and I can think of no more deserving recipient of such an honor.”
