IRVINE RESIDENT AWARDED OC BAR ASSOCIATION’S HIGHEST HONOR

January 25, 2010 - Irvine - Longtime Irvine resident Donald S. Gray, was honored posthumously with the Franklin G. West Award on January 21, 2010, 5:30 p.m. at the Westin Costa Mesa.

Gray served under President Jimmy Carter as Director, Military Equal Opportunity Programs, Department of Defense, the Pentagon where he was awarded the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service.

He was Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of Toshiba America Information Systems in Irvine for over 22 years.

Gray’s was President of the Orange County Bar Association in 1999. His outstanding leadership on numerous Bar committees and task forces made a positive impact on the OC legal and business communities.

His civic and charitable awards in Orange County include:

  • Man of the Year, Christ our Redeemer Church
  • The Judge Learned Hand Lifetime Achievement Award, American Jewish Committee
  • Jurisprudence Award, The Anti-Defamation League
  • The Citizen of Distinction in Law Award, City of Santa Ana and NAACP
  • The Tom Bradley Distinguished Citizen Award

“Don Gray is a man who has indeed left a legacy.” said Michael Yoder, OCBA Immediate Past-President, in a recent column in OC Lawyer, “Don’s imprint on the Orange County legal community will be lasting, and it has been significant.”
