Orange County Bar Association Presents ‘Getting to Successful Collaboration in Government & Political Contexts” featuring Dean Tom Campbell of Chapman University School of Law
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.—The Solo Practitioner/Small Firm, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Corporate Counsel, and Tax Law Sections of the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) will present “Getting to Successful Collaboration in Government and Political Contexts,” Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at The Pacific Club in Newport Beach. Attorneys from diverse practice areas are invited to attend this event, during which Chapman University School of Law Dean Tom Campbell will offer suggestions on how the difficulties in our government/political system can be overcome, including the recommendation of structural improvements.
This timely program promises to yield valuable insights for legal practitioners by addressing such topics as negotiation and consensus-building; the use of neutral third-party approaches akin to mediation; the value and long-term benefit of professionalism and civility; and effective, non-partisan ways to advance client interests with elected officials and regulators.
Prior to his appointment as Dean of Chapman University School of Law in February 2011, Campbell served Stanford University from 1983 to 2002, followed by his tenure as Dean of the University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business from 2002 to 2008. Aside from his work in the field of academia, Campbell was a member of the United States Congress from 1989 to 1993 and 1995 to 2001, a member of the California State Senate from 1993 to 1995, and the California Department of Finance Director from 2004 to 2005.
